  Eyes of the Beast

It has been a long, hard road for Jonathon Christi and the employees at Beast Watchers, Inc. Finally, the last satellite has been put into orbit and the system was online. Jonathon’s dream of helping the animal kingdom was finally coming true. But for how long? The United States was having trouble fighting the war on terrorism, keeping peace in the Middle East, and boosting the economy. The United Nations tried to help the United States and formed a committee led by a prominent peace keeper to handle the Middle Eastern turmoil and the fight against terrorism. With the extra help, the United States started to become the power center of the world, the economy started to climb, jobs were being formed, prosperity rose, and the world was again at peace. But for how long? Meteors, volcanoes, and earthquakes will bring the world to its knees. Fear is the catalyst of bad decisions, and the peace keeper is elected as the New World Order leader. The new leader wants Jonathon’s company to help stabilize the terror engulfed world. What once was Jonathon’s dream to watch and help the animal world was now going to be used to watch over the remaining world population. Will Jonathon be able to convince an unbelieving world that the chip he designed is now the mark of the beast from Bible prophecies, or will the world think he is just another end-of-the-world fanatic? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The next few weeks went as planned. The entire operational test had been completed, and the satellites were ready to be connected. Each of the three ALPHA satellites was to control seven smaller BETA satellites.
The main computer at Beast Watchers would then monitor the ALPHAS and collect the information from all of the satellites. By December 5, we were ready to connect all twenty-four satellites.
All satellites were connected and sending information by December 16, and we were ready to relay that information to our customers. Robert set up a press conference for December 21. Beast Watchers was about to tell the world who we were and what we were doing. Seven years of hard work was about to pay off.
I pulled into my designated parking spot in front of the Beast Watchers’ building. It was quite a site, this building—150,000 square feet divided into two sections. The two parts were connected in the middle by a smaller section which consisted of the main entry, conference room, press room, security desk, and security monitoring room. Since our clients were worldwide, we would have to be open for business twenty-four hours a day. Yet after 6:00 o'clock, the building would be locked and a security card would be needed to gain access.
The north side of the building housed the executive offices and the cafeteria; the south side housed the labs, computer banks, and the bridge. I ran through the main entry, showed my I.D. card to the officer, and continued down the hall to the press room. This was a fairly small room with a small stage in the back that faced the large, double door entry. On the stage was a podium set up with microphones, speakers, and a large monitor mounted on the wall directly to the rear.
Twenty-five to thirty free-standing chairs faced the stage. At that moment, they were filled with reporters who were checking their watches, talking on cell phones, thumbing through notebooks, or tapping their pens impatiently. I could see Robert behind the podium staring at me with a look. You know, if looks could kill and all that stuff. As I reached the doors, I saw Jonathon sitting behind Robert. He smiled and shook his head.
"Shut the doors. Will you, Peter?" Robert asked.
I turned and shut both doors. Then I went and sat behind Robert. Robert Liehman was a short, slightly plump kind of man of Jewish decent. He had short, curly, black and gray hair. He was clean shaven, and immaculately dressed. He was fifty-one years old and held more degrees in business and administration then I could count. He was the one who had made all this possible. He went out and found investors to put money into a company that would not produce a return for at least eight years.
"Good morning and thank you for coming. As most of you know, I am Robert Liehman, CEO of Beast Watchers. I am proud to say, as of January 1, Beast Watchers will be fully online and operational. Today I hope we can answer some of your questions. Please remember, we will not release any information about present or future clients. Before we get started, let me turn this conference over to Jonathon Christi, our president and chief engineer," Robert announced to the crowd.
Jonathon stood up from his seat and walked to the podium. He had a Ph.D. in electrical engineering and a master's degree in mechanical engineering. This was quite remarkable considering he was only thirty years old. Although Robert had kept this place going with financial support, this day would never have happened without Jonathon. He hired only the best people, paid them top salaries, and was personally involved in all aspects of design and manufacturing. I had never told him, but this was the best job I had ever had.
"Hello, I am Jonathon Christi. I will try my best to answer all of your questions. Shall we begin?”
It wasn't a second after Jonathon stop talking that he was bombarded with questions. Jonathon raised his hands in the air trying to get everyone’s attention. He looked back at Robert as if to ask for help. Robert just sat there with a look of disbelief on his face. Suddenly a loud, whistling noise blasted from the back of the room. Dead silence fell as everyone turned around to see what had happened. Dan stood in front of the double doors with the index finger and thumb of his left hand still in his mouth. As he lowered his hand he said, "Go ahead, Jonathon,"
"Thank you, Dan. I'm glad you joined us," said Jonathon.
"I just had to see what all the noise was," Dan replied.
"Now, people, let's do this a little different. Raise your hand; I will point, then you speak. I will try and give everyone a chance!" Jonathon commanded.
As the hands went into the air, Jonathon pointed to a reporter in the front row.
"Why ‘Beast Watchers’? Do you watch beasts?" the reporter asked.
“Not exactly. Our company provides a service so that our customers are able to do that,” Jonathon answered. Each time Jonathon answered a question, he would point to another reporter.
"How do you provide this service?"
“Beast Watchers helps an organization track and monitor animals anywhere in the world. We designed and developed a microchip small enough to be injected into the animal. That chip is coded with a predetermined tracking number, frequency, and password. That information is recorded and supplied to our customers. The customer is given an access number which allows them to access our computer and retrieve the information from the chips that they have purchased.”
"How does this information get to your computer?"
"The frequency the chip emits is picked up by one of twenty-four low orbiting satellites we have. This information is sent to our computer and stored until it is retrieved."
"How fast can they get this information?"
“Instantly. If they put the chip into a bird, they could watch that bird fly away and know exactly when and where it landed. They could also retrieve information as far back as five days. This can tell them where the bird has been."
"So your product only works on birds?"
"No, no, no, it will work on any animal."
"Even humans?"
"That would take extensive testing and FDA approval, but I guess so. Yes."
"Is it true that the government has a contract with you?"
“Nice try. I will not give out any information about any of our customers. Any other questions?"
"So what happens if an animal dies?"
"As you know, there are two classifications of animals—warm-blooded and cold-blooded. When you purchase the product, you must state which classification you need. The product is dormant until it is injected into the animal.
If injected into a warm-blooded animal, the product is designed to activate as it reaches a predetermined temperature. If the animal’s temperature drops below that level, the product will shut down and send a deceased code back to the customer. Then the customer is free to use that particular frequency somewhere else."
"Who determines the temperature that is used?"
"The customer is supplied with information that will allow him to program the product."
"How many chips can one customer buy?"
"A customer can buy as many as chips he wants. The FCC has granted us the exclusive license for one thousand frequencies–many more than we need. Using technology similar to what is used in your cell phones, we can assign to any single frequency an infinite amount of tracking numbers. If a customer buys a thousand chips, they can have a thousand tracking numbers to go with them. Each customer will receive a unique encryption key. No one but the customer can track the chip.
As of yet, there is not a computer in the world that can decipher our highly sophisticated encryption algorithm—at least not without the correct key."
"What keeps one customer from monitoring another customer’s information?"
"The password you receive allows you to access only your own frequency information."
"What would you actually see when you are tracking these animals?"
"I think it would be better to show you. Peter, if you please."
I stood up and walked over to the computer terminal in front of the big screen. "Ladies and gentlemen, if you will watch the monitor, I will show you what our customers get for their money. The numbers you see on the screen are the tracking numbers of three field mice just outside of our building. They just look like numbers to you. Because we assigned them to the mice, we know what they are. As you see the numbers move, so are the mice. Now with a few keystrokes of the computer, I can pinpoint the exact location of the mice. The geographical map programmed into the satellites does all this. There, does the name of that street look familiar?" I asked.
"I hope this demonstration answered your question. Beast Watchers is hoping, that with our product, animal societies around the world will be able to track and help all types of animals in the effort to keep them from becoming endangered or extinct," Jonathon added.
"What is the cost?"
"Well, you have to purchase the frequency, tracking numbers, product, and the equipment. I would say it is cost-effective, regardless of the cost. Are there anymore questions?"
Jonathon looked at Robert as he joined him at the podium. "I hope you all have a safe and joyous holiday, and we look forward to talking to you again," Robert said.

It was a beautiful clear December morning for the people in New York city who had gotten up early to watch the meteor shower. This was an unscheduled shower that was supposed to more brilliant than most. The first meteors started lighting up the skies around six forty five. The colors were spectacular as they burned up it the earths atmosphere. The noises from the crowd as they watched would have made you think you were watching a fourth of July extravaganza. Mike was out with the crowd watching the meteor shower. A man came up beside him and was commenting on how great the view was. Mike agreed and looked back towards the sky. The two men watched as two of the meteors sailed down from the sky and towards the earth. One went out of sight in the horizon while the other hit in the ocean off to the east sending up a brilliant white flash of light. "Wow, that was great," Mike said to the man standing beside him. When he didn’t get an answer, Mike look over to where the man was standing and noticed he wasn’t there anymore. "I guess he had to leave," Mike mumbled to himself. Mike looked around the crowd to see if the man had just moved somewhere else. He couldn’t understand how this man could have disappeared so quickly. He also noticed the crowd had thinned down. He chuckled to himself and thought that maybe he had been more involved in watching the meteors than he had thought. Mike looked back out only to see the large wall of steaming water, ash, and fire heading straight for him. He wanted to move, but had no place to go.
Jonathon sat straight up out of bed. "I love you too Susan," he kept screaming. He was disoriented trying to figure out where he was. It took a few moments for him to realize he was home in bed and Susan, his wife, was not lying beside him. He stares at the side of the bed where his wife used to lay. He swears he heard her voice talking to him. He placed his hand down on the bed and remembered the day Peter had told him she had been killed in a plane crash. A crash that had taken his whole life away, for his young son Daniel had been with her that day. Now Jonathon spends his days at work along side of his second family. If it weren’t for them, Jonathon would not have made it through the rough times.
Jonathon looked over at the clock. "Almost five," he said to himself, "I guess I might as well get up." So he did, out of bed, out to make coffee, shower, shave, and get dressed. He then pour a cup of coffee and went in to watch the news. This is something that he liked to do in the mornings. This morning was going to change his life. The news station he normally watched was not broadcasting, it just showed the Emergency Broadcasting Service logo on the screen. He started flipping through the channels until he finally found one that had some sort of information. He watched as a young lady, who was clearly in distress, tried to get out what she wanted to say.
"Since we have not been able to contact any of our correspondents overseas, we are not able to give you a full and accurate description of the devastation that has happened. This is what we know at this point. At 7:00 o’clock Eastern standard time, about one hour ago, a meteor of unknown size landed in the Atlantic Ocean approximately one hundred miles northeast of Washington, D.C. Within minutes, the Eastern Seaboard of the United States was wiped out by the massive wave generated from this meteor. To make matters worse, seven earthquakes measuring seven or higher on the Richter scale hit simultaneously around the world. California, Hawaii, Japan, China, Russia, England, and the Middle East all sustained heavy damage from these earthquakes. We also have pieces of the meteor that have been blown into the outer atmosphere and have fallen back to earth. The pieces have started fires and even more destruction."
Jonathon watched as the lady was given a piece of paper to read. Tears were coming to her eyes as she made it down the page. Jonathon’s phone started to ring, but he chose to ignore it wanting to her what the young lady had to say. She was finally able to get herself together and read what was on the paper.
"I was just informed that two more meteors hit in the ocean, one off of the coast of France, the other off the coast of China. Both these meteors have cause major damage to coastal countries in the surrounding areas. We also have several volcanoes erupting in various areas of the world causing even more damage. Besides the land destruction, they are starting more fires, and putting more stuff in the air. The sky is already so full of ash, smoke, and dust, that the sun is very hard to see. My God, what is happening, what are we going to do,"
Jonathon knew that she wasn’t going to be able to continue for a least a few minutes, so he decided to answer the phone which had being ringing for quite awhile. "Hello," he said. "Yeah Peter, I’m watching it now." ----------

I will be adding some more to this as time goes by and people request. meanwhile, I just want to say that since I started this book a few years back, the chip that I mention has been developed and now has FDA approval. The microchip is known as Digital Angel and was developed by a company called Applied Digital Solutions. You can read up on this microchip at either one of the websites. This product is dangerous and is tied in with our Federal Government. keep watch because I do believe it wont be long before they are trying to get people to take this injection.
